It was in the news a few days back and fortunately it never went anywhere. It was reported and some even debated if the city of Southampton (for the geographically challenged it is an English port) should apologize because in the past, by past we mean over a century ago, the port was used for the transportation of slaves to the new lands (now USA).
I think that some people prefer to live in the past in the hope that by trying to make the others feel guidable that they will gain advantage because of their skin color. Well enough is enough. You want equality?? Then what color your skin is does not matter, by trying to use that to your advantage you commit what you accuse the others doing to you, racism, but because it is on your favor it is okay.
I was never a racist although I have been accused as one many times but with the attitude that some people are having and unfortunately it is becoming a trend amongst the youngsters I will become one and to hell what others think or say. Equality? YES by all means but by all and for all. No an equality that is based on the color of your skin. You are white then you will have to give your position to somebody that it is not and does not have the same skills as you have in order to keep the face of the company that have to show that they have people from all races.
WAKE UP and start behaving like you should and not the way the real racists portray you because the more you keep behaving the way you are the more will turn against you and when the point on no return comes it will be too late for all of you and the whole world will loose as a result.
And since we started with the apology requested maybe the Chinese should ask the British to apologize for the opium wars and the disasters they inflicted to the people of china. Why not the Russian to ask France for apology for the Napoleon wars, the Italians from all eastern Europe for Hannibal, the Greek against the Persians, the remaining Aztecs (or their direct descendents) from Spain and Portugal and the list goes on. WHAT HAPPENED IT HAS HAPPENED AND WE CANNOT CHANGE IT, WE AR ENOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THINGS THAT HAPPENED A CENTURY AGO. WE WERE NOT THERE.
And with that note THEY, the ones that demand the apology now, were not there also so stop living in the past and look in the future and try to build a life, not destroy somebody elses.
